About Us

A little about me and these dogs.

After living with a Lakota Mastino Italian Mastiff named Carmen for a couple years I learned a lot about these brilliant dogs. Carmen is from Vancouver, British Columbia and I believe her fathers name is Dakota. Now she lives in Northeast Portland with her owner Dan. My first meeting with Carmen was a memorable one for sure. I didn't know that when I knocked on Dan's door that day there was going to be a guard dog there to great me. I believe she was about 10 months old at that point in time. She was literally ferocious, timid, loud and some what feral.
Who knew she would later become the friend that would go surfing and kayaking with me? As it turns out, Carmen later earned the knickname " The Dog of the Sea " because of her silver coloring and thick sea porpoise like resemblence. You might see her this summer out in the ocean or your local river. The Dog of the Sea.

Growing up we had many dogs. A Beagle named Sidney. He ran away when I was really young but I do remember playing with him for a while back then when I was about 3 or 4. It was Sidney and Stubby always playing in the backyard with me at that age. Stubby was a little black and white, long haired Mutt I think my Mother found lost some where. Stubby proved to be the most loyal doggy friend of my childhood. That little dog was extremely devoted and would always follow me everywhere. When I was around 5 I can remember my Mom putting a baby blue sweater on stubby when we used to go to the beach for warmth. Those were the days, remember the 70's ?

This story is to be continued once I have some more time...

Me & Mea
Mea - 2 months
This website is my attempt to document the life of my own Cane Corso, Italian Mastiff. Her name is Mea and she's the dog in the picture chewing on an empty pot. I've also taken a little time to compile some useful information on dog health, dog pros & cons, pet supplies, advice and info on the history of the 3 types of Italian Mastiff. Mea was born January 8th, 2005 and weighs about 50 lbs now. 5/21/2005 -3 weeks ago she weighed about 20 lbs. The growth of this little bundle of love is remarkably fast. You can see pictures of her in the photo gallery section of this site. Feel free to browse the website and all of our doggy photos.
